The Charles Hotel, Cambridge, MA

Elevator Interior Design was selected as the elevator cab company of choice to fabricate complete custom elevator cabs from the ground up, for the Charles Hotel in historic Harvard Square, Cambridge MA. Based upon the Thierry W. Despont conceptual rendering, EID refined details and presented custom proprietary oxidized and blackened metal finishes for customer selection.

Collaborating with Kone Elevator Company, EID received custom bronze swing returns by Innovation Industries and oxidized the same to match EID’s medium bronze oxidation. Once complete, the elevator cab components were top-coated with multiple coats of protective lacquer to withstand the high traffic conditions in the hotel and then fitted seamlessly into the balance of the cabs.

To ensure customer satisfaction, the elevator cabs were set up for viewing purposes at the EID manufacturing facility in Lynn, MA. before installation in the field.
