Rock ‘n’ Roll Rises: Inside NYC’s Most Stylish Elevators
Hard Rock Hotel New York
In a gleaming addition to New York City’s skyline, the new Hard Rock Hotel stands 35 stories tall near Times Square. Behind its elevator doors lies a story of craftsmanship and innovation, brought to life through a partnership between Elevator Interior Design (EID) and Schindler Elevator Company.
The challenge was clear: create elevator interiors that marry luxury with practicality. These cabs needed to handle the daily assault of luggage carts while still capturing the Hard Rock’s signature style. EID rose to the occasion with a custom solution, installing their specialized wall panel system that combines Cambridge Metals’ architectural woven wire with McGrory laminated architectural glass.
But EID didn’t stop there. While Schindler’s factory-standard cab fronts only came in satin stainless steel, EID saw an opportunity for enhancement. They completely transformed the front walls-from door panels to transoms-using Forms+Surfaces’ Fused Metal, complete with a Ceramiloc coating that keeps fingerprints at bay.
